Far and wide. 10/25/2009
25/Oct/09 When I first produced the book people told me they thought it would go well in the North East of England. It is doing quite well near to home, but thanks to the wonder of the internet people have bought it in Ireland, Finland, Norway, Australia, New Zealand, several States of America and even Jakarta. Despite this worldwide appeal, it is not the sort of book that interests the major book shop chains. However, you may still be able to buy one locally if you visit your local sports shop. Northern Runner in Newcastle was the first running specialist sports shop to stock it, and it is now stocked by a growing number of sports shops around the country. Comments10/25/2009 10:57
Hi Charlie, As an average club runner from the same generation as yourself I cannot wait to read your book. Are you planning a signing sometime as I want to buy a copy for a friends 50th soon as well as my own. To myself and a generation of north-east distance runners you are the ultimate local hero.

Now a copy has also found its way to Sweden. Thank you for not writing yet another cook book on how to train but an inspirational support for those dark, wet November evenings I spend out on the roads!

Hi Charlie ... Not sure you'll remember me. We ran together for a bit when you were running with the Cambridge Sports Union (1983?) in the Boston area. Not long after that, we were proud to say that we had run with an Olympic medalist! I will order your book and look forward to hear more about your life before and after CSU. Best .... Steve

Charlie, I was back in the North East recently and tried to pick up a copy after Brian Bewick mentioned you had been to Sunderland Harriers.

One of the most down to earth and inspirational books I've ever read about running.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. Do you agree?
